With weight capacities of up to 227 kilograms and seat width up to 61 centimeters, heavy duty wheelchairs (often referred to as extra wide wheelchairs or bariatric wheelchairs) are sturdy enough to accommodate almost any user. Just like the standard wheelchairs, our heavy duty models all fold and feature arm rests and swing-away footrests, but they differ quite a bit in their construction with a reinforced frame with double cross braces that provides rigidity for heavy users.
